The story behind Graves into Gardens

Brandon Lake, Chris Brown, Steven Furtick and Tiffany Hammer wrote Graves into Gardens in 2019. Chris Brown told The Christian Beat that the title song grew from a Furtick sermon called The Mystery of Potential, based on 2 Kings 13:20-21. In that passage a dead man touches the bones of Elisha and comes back to life. Brown said the message was that God can still bring dead things to life and that nothing is wasted. Elevation Worship recorded the song live at its Ballantyne campus in Charlotte on January 15, 2020, with the congregation singing, and Brandon Lake appears as featured artist. Wikipedia reports that Elevation released it as a single on March 13, 2020, and that it reached number one on Billboard's Hot Christian Songs chart in February 2021 after a record 46-week climb. It won Top Christian Song at the 2021 Billboard Music Awards and Worship Recorded Song of the Year at the 2021 Dove Awards. Wikipedia spells the fourth writer Tiffany Hudson, while Hymnary.org and PraiseCharts spell it Hammer.
