Church directory
Open a spreadsheet of households, add family photographs, and print a photo directory, a plain list or a folded booklet. It all runs in your browser, so the names, addresses and photographs stay on your computer.
The member app in Covenant OS has a directory that each household controls, so the book is never out of date. The beta opens Tuesday, December 1, 2026, and beta churches use it free.
The weekly email
One email a week with new articles, new free tools and new job postings.
Your spreadsheet
Put one household on each row: last name, first names, children, street, city, state, ZIP, phone and email, with the column names in the first row. Excel and CSV both work, and so does any church software that exports its member list. The page guesses which column is which and shows its guesses, so you can correct them before the households are added.
Leaving a household out
Some households need to stay out of print, such as a family keeping its address from someone who has harmed it. Open the household and tick Leave this household out of the directory. It then appears nowhere in the book, not on a page and not in the index, and it stays in your list for next year. To hold back one detail instead, such as a phone number, tick it under Leave out for this household only.
Photographs
Name each photograph with the household's last name and choose them all at once; the page matches them by file name and lists any it could not match. Open a household to move or zoom its photograph in the square frame, or to choose one by hand. A family without a photograph gets a plain square with its initial.
Printing it
Letter pages
Choose Photos or Plain list under Layout, beside the preview, then press Print or save as PDF. The photo directory prints six households to a page and the plain list about twenty-five, with a cover, a page for pastors and staff, and an index in the photo directory.
Booklet
Choose Booklet, then print two-sided and choose "flip on short edge." Each sheet holds four half-size pages, already in the order that folds into a book. Fold the stack in half and staple it along the fold. The page adds blank pages at the end when the book needs a multiple of four. If your printer prints one side at a time, print the odd pages, turn the stack over, put it back in the tray and print the even pages. Print one copy first to check the order before you print the run.
Where your directory is saved
The households are saved in this browser and the photographs in its storage, on this device only. To keep the directory for next year or finish it on another computer, use More, then Download a project file, which carries the photographs too, and open that file from the same menu.
