Funeral program template
Choose a design, add a photograph, the order of service and the obituary, then print a folded program or save a PDF. It all runs in your browser, so nothing you add, including the photograph, leaves your computer.
The photograph stays on this computer. The page saves a smaller copy of it in this browser and never uploads it.
Choosing a ready-made order replaces the lines below. Click into a line and a box opens under it for a note, such as a hymn number or who is speaking.
Printing it
Folded program
Open Preview and print (on a phone it is the second tab), choose Folded program, then press Print or save as PDF. In the print window choose two-sided printing and "flip on short edge," which some printers call short-edge binding. Fold the sheet in half with the photograph on the front.
If your printer prints one side at a time, test with a single sheet. Print page 1 alone, and before you lift the sheet out, pencil a mark on the corner nearest you. Set the sheet back in the paper tray and print page 2 alone. If page 2 prints on top of page 1, the sheet needed turning over, and if it prints upside down, it needed turning end for end. Take a fresh sheet, load it that way, and load the full run the same way.
Single page
Choose Single page and print it on one side of letter paper, with nothing to fold.
Paper
Card stock or a heavier paper of 24 to 32 pound holds up better in the hand than copy paper, and most home printers take it. Set the paper to letter, the scale to 100 percent and the margins to none where those settings appear, or choose Save as PDF to send the file to a print shop.
What a program usually holds
The cover carries the name, the dates of birth and death, a photograph and when and where the service is. Inside go the order of service, the people taking part and the obituary. The back usually names the pallbearers, says where the burial is and whether there is a meal afterward, and thanks everyone who came.
Scripture often read at a funeral
Psalm 23, John 11:25-26, John 14:1-3, Romans 8:38-39, 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18 and Revelation 21:1-4. The passages in this tool are from the Berean Standard Bible, a translation in the public domain, so they can be printed freely.
Where your program is saved
The program and the photograph are saved in this browser on this device, and Church Posting never sees them. To finish it on another computer, use More, then Download a backup file, and open that file on the other computer from the same menu.
Church Posting makes free tools and writes articles for churches. The weekly email brings the new ones, along with ministry job postings.
