How the date is set
Pentecost falls on Sunday, 49 days after Easter. Christians remember the coming of the Holy Spirit in Acts 2. Counting Easter Sunday as the first day makes Pentecost the fiftieth day.

Planning the service
Choose the passage and songs with the pastor. If several readers will take part, give each person their portion in advance and rehearse microphone changes. Confirm any baptisms or membership welcomes before adding them to the order. Publish the same service time and instructions in the bulletin, calendar and announcements.
