THE OPPORTUNITY
Help young children begin building a faith they can understand and live out. As SCG’s Kindergarten & 1st Grade Director, you’ll lead the K/1 ministry environment, guide volunteers, and shape weekly experiences that help kindergarteners and first graders learn about Jesus. You bring energy to a room of young children and care to the preparation behind it. You can translate biblical truth into age-appropriate teaching, support volunteers, and work with families as children grow into the next stage of ministry.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Lead the K/1 Theater ministry and its weekly environment, keeping teaching, activities, and worship aligned with SCG KIDS objectives and the KIDS Pastor’s direction.
- Adapt Orange Curriculum for kindergarten and first grade children; write weekly teaching outlines, select worship songs, and plan large-group activities.
- Recruit, screen, train, and lead volunteers through SCG’s screening process. Manage schedules, send lesson plans in advance, and keep volunteers connected through weekly and monthly communication.
- Maintain safe child-to-adult ratios, respond to urgent situations, and address concerns with parents and volunteers.
- Prepare and organize the Theater, including setup and teardown, supplies, and ProPresenter graphics and videos. Purchase supplies within the monthly budget.
- Help first graders transition into the 2/3 Theater, adapting teaching and programming during March - May in partnership with the SCG KIDS team.
- Join weekly SCG KIDS planning and review meetings, support special events and services throughout the year, and carry out other responsibilities assigned by the supervisor.
- Serve in authorized ministry responsibilities, including communion, baptism, weddings, funerals, worship, and Bible studies.
WHO YOU ARE
- A fully committed follower of Jesus Christ who desires to make disciples, agrees with SeaCoast Grace Church’s mission and vision, and can understand, teach, and live out biblical truth.
- At least two years of experience working with children in a large-group ministry context, plus a bachelor’s degree or comparable experience.
- A clear, enthusiastic communicator who can lead large groups of children, equip volunteers, delegate effectively, and understand and express written and spoken information.
- A self-starter with strong interpersonal skills, sound judgment, confidentiality, flexibility, accuracy, and reliable follow-through.
- Proficient with Google products and current technology, including tablets, apps, and online resources; able to identify problems and use inductive and mathematical reasoning.
- Able to work nights, weekends, and holidays as requested, and able to lift 30 pounds.
- Able to obtain DOJ fingerprint clearance and complete Mandated Reporter Training.
- Able to maintain First Aid and CPR certification.
