High School Ministry Associate Pastor

Ministry: High School Ministry Reports To: Next Generation Pastor Status: Full-time, salaried (40 hours per week)

Location: Cypress Campus Compensation: $60,000 - $80,000 annually

THE OPPORTUNITY

Help high school students encounter Jesus, grow in faith, and put that faith into action. As SCG’s High School Ministry Associate Pastor, you’ll lead a relational ministry for students in grades 9 - 12, shaping weekly gatherings, small groups, and experiences that help students take their next step following Jesus.

This role is for a pastoral leader who loves students, communicates Scripture clearly, and develops people. You’ll equip adult volunteers and student leaders, partner with parents, and align the ministry with SCG’s Next Generation strategy and discipleship pathway: Jesus Changes Everything, Live Differently, and Send It.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

• Plan and lead gospel-centered, relational, engaging weekly High School gatherings; serve as a primary teacher who helps students understand and follow Jesus.
• Develop small group curriculum and environments that support ongoing discipleship.
• Recruit, screen, train, and equip adult volunteers, building a healthy, high-trust team where leaders are seen, supported, and ready to invest in students.
• Build and lead student leadership teams, helping students grow as leaders and put their faith into practice.
• Plan camps, retreats, mission trips, outreach events, and other High School programming; coordinate logistics, communication, and volunteer teams.
• Care for students and their families through a consistent pastoral presence, follow-up, and counseling as appropriate; equip parents as the primary disciple-makers in their students’ lives.
• Partner with the Next Generation Pastor, other Next Gen staff, and church teams; participate in pastoral staff meetings and churchwide initiatives.

WHO YOU ARE

• A fully committed follower of Jesus with a growing personal walk, a clear calling to student ministry, and agreement with SCG’s statement of faith, mission, and values.
• A student-ministry leader with at least 3 years of experience working with students in a youth ministry context.
• A gifted teacher and volunteer leader who builds relational ministry environments.
• An organized, clear communicator who can turn ministry plans into well-prepared gatherings and events.
• Willing to live in the greater Orange County / Cypress area and engage fully in the life of SCG Church.
• Preferred: a bachelor’s degree in ministry, biblical studies, or a related field, and experience in a larger church.

WORK SCHEDULE

This is a 40-hour, full-time role based at SCG’s Cypress Campus, with weekday and weekend ministry hours, including weekend High School services and Wednesday-night youth services. The schedule also includes camps, retreats, mission trips, special events, pastoral staff meetings, and churchwide initiatives.
